In September of 2021 REACH Innovation was awarded a Sector Transformation Fund, Local Projects Grant from the Community Housing Transformation Centre based in Montreal QC (www.centre.support). The REACH team (pictured) will survey local housing initiatives that would be considered innovative and transformative by design, function or impact within Niagara, evaluate how these models may be transferable to, or may help advance community housing, by filling sectoral gaps created by the current housing crisis. REACH Innovation will also use the grant to explore its own conceptual model to potentially increase both rental and ownership housing at the community level, using a social enterprise approach based around its constructions skills training programs and courses offered through their Welland based Community Resource and Training Centre. As the recipient organisation Niagara Peninsula Homes gratefully acknowledges the Centre for this grant and for their ongoing support within the community housing sector.
